Department of Innovation, Industry & Regional Development (DIIRD)
DIIRD was responsible for around 40 business related websites. Their new strategy required that the structure, architecture and design of departmental websites be re-organised to deliver a consistent experience for users and make it easier for users to navigate between related content. DIIRD engaged Eclipse to develop a user-tested site design that would meet the business objectives of their web strategy, while still meeting user needs.
User experience design
As the lead user experience designer, my role was to develop a new information architecture and site layout that would aggregate the content from around 40 existing websites. This involved extensive user research and testing with over 200 Victorian business people to understand their requirements and validate the proposed designs. The new site designs and navigation represented an improvement of over 70% in task completion and overall usability compared with the previous range of websites.
